There is a philosophy to gift-giving, and also a complexity to it. It can involve social obligation, building relationships, expressing values, and even, possibly, a paradoxical pursuit of selfless giving that challenges the very concept of “the gift.” But whatever the occasion. Whatever the decorum, holiday, tradition, reason, or motive for the gift, sometimes, help is required.
